If there is one style that seems to be taking the fashion and celeb world by storm at the moment, it has to be the bob.

A style classic, the bob has been around since the turn of the century and has been sported by many women since, most notably Louise Brooks in the 1920s. But it was in the 1960s that the hairstyle really took off, when Vidal Sassoon took the look to new levels. However, 2011 has seen a wave of celebrities championing the look.hairstyles

Cheryl Cole recently showed off a new gorgeous long blonde bob, while Fearne Cotton and Jennifer Anniston have also recently had the chop. And Keira Knightly has been championing the tousled wavy bob.

What’s more the bob suits most people and is a great way of showing off a good jawline or neck. However, if you have a more rounded face it’s probably better to go for a longer bob, but there is a look for most face shapes. As for texture, they work best on thin to medium hair and if you have naturally curly hair, a bob is likely to just puff your hair out so is best avoided.

They are also really versatile as they can be worn smooth and sleek, or messy and wavy for a beachy look. They can also look really chic with a few loose curls for an evening do. Fearne Cotton worked this look at the Glamour woman of the year award.

When it comes to caring for your bob, this is where your flat irons are going to come in very handy. A good pair of hair straighteners will make sure that your hair is super sleek and smooth when you want to wear your hair straight. A good pair of flat-irons are also really good at curling the ends of your hair under so that it sits right.

With a styler from ghd you can also achieve a loose curly look or sexy beach waves with the same styling tool, which is always a bonus. Simply loosely curl your hair for a more undone sexy look.
