Prince William and Kate Middleton say Canada tour ‘has been the making of us’

The Duke of Cambridge has suggested the experience of touring Canada and meeting its people has been the making of himself and his wife.

In his last speech of the royal trip William described how the visit to the Commonwealth country had “far surpassed” what he had been promised.

And he vowed to return to Canada, where crowds have turned out in their thousands to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.

William spoke last night in Calgary – the final stop of their nine-day tour which ends later today – at a reception celebrating the world-famous Calgary Stampede, a rodeo festival and show the couple will launch later.

The Duke and Duchess were suitably attired for the event wearing white “ten gallon” hats they had been presented with, and finishing off the look with cowboy shirts and boots, and jeans.

Speaking in a conference centre William told the guests: “In 1939, my great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, said of her first tour of Canada with her husband, King George VI, ‘Canada made us’.

Graduate Fashion Week: Banality & Brilliance

A fashion week sponsored by George at ASDA is a bit like a gourmet food festival sponsored by McDonald’s or a fine wine tasting organised by Lambrini. It makes it all feel a little…how can I put this…? Cheap.

However, times are hard and there’s not much support out there for graduates of any description. Well done to Walmart UK for stumping up the cash to support this year’s Graduate Fashion Week! George managed to put on a pretty good show at Earl’s Court, London last week. Though there were times when I half expected the event staff, in their pale green t-shirts, to start enthusiastically telling me about the discounted washing powder in aisle eight.
